“As a first time visitor to Italy, specifically Venice, I had spent the majority of my time sampling local savory dishes. It was a whim that I decided to stop at the Paticceria Rosa Salva for a spot of caffeine to start my day of exploring. The woman behind the counter must have understood who I was and what I needed in my life because without asking she added a Budino to my order. She smiled and said “pudding”. I shrugged not understanding what was so special about a pudding.
Pudding didn’t explain what it was. My spoon went through the delicate tuft of lightly sweetened whipped cream, the dark layer of burnt sugar caramel and the, only what I can express as the most deep, buttery, salted butterscotch flavor I had ever experienced. Simple and yet so complex. I smiled at the woman behind the counter. She knew, pure euphoria.”
