Bermuda and its rowdy sailors gave birth to this 1800’s potion. As the story goes ginger beer was brewed in hopes of curtailing the wild rum driven antics and scurvy prone seafarers of this time. Instead, the sailors combined the deep spicy flavor of rum, the salt of the sea and the crispness of the ginger brew. The name Dark & Stormy was given its name by a WWI sailor who said “It’s the color of a cloud only a fool or a dead man would sail under”.
